Field Service

How field service software actually gets bought
Trade businesses scale on relationships and word of mouth, and the admin stays informal long past the point where it works. Jobs get assigned in chat, quotes are written in documents that never link to the job that followed, and the office answers the phone all day to tell customers where the crew is.
The fix is one thread per job — enquiry, quote, schedule, completion notes, invoice — rather than better versions of the same scattered tools. Office systems go first because that is where the schedule really lives; crews get a mobile app once the schedule in the system is the one being worked, not a copy of a whiteboard. Technicians adopt it only if it is faster than messaging the office, which is why the first release is deliberately small.
Challenges we see
- Jobs tracked in chats and notebooks
- No customer visibility into work status
- Technicians offline from the office system
Typical outcomes
- Job scheduling
- Customer portal
- Staff mobile app
